There are many ways into music. You don't need to know exactly where yours leads before you begin.

Let's explore together. I'll walk a little farther down the trail because I've been here before.

About Peter

A working musician who loves teaching music.

Peter Lorenzen is a pianist, keyboardist, organist, composer, music director, and teacher based in Lakewood, Colorado.

He's been playing piano for more than 25 years and teaching for over a decade. His teaching grows out of the music he makes every week: performing, directing, improvising, arranging, accompanying, recording, and collaborating with other musicians.

But knowing music and knowing how to teach it are different skills. Peter loves finding the explanation, example, song, or approach that makes something click for the individual student in front of him.

The goal isn't to create one particular kind of pianist. It's to help people become confident, curious musicians who understand what they're doing and genuinely enjoy making music.

Private Lessons

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all music lessons.

Every student comes in with different goals, interests, strengths, and reasons for wanting to play, so lessons are built around the person sitting at the piano.

For one student that might mean classical repertoire and strong technique. For another it might mean chords, jazz, pop, improvisation, songwriting, music theory, worship music, or finally learning the piece they've always wanted to play.

Beginners are absolutely welcome, including adults who have always wanted to learn but never quite got around to it. Experienced musicians looking to deepen their technique, understanding, or creativity are welcome too.

We'll build strong fundamentals and learn how music actually works, but those things are tools for making music, not the finish line.

The goal is simple: leave lessons wanting to play.

This room can also hold recording, composition, arranging, worship projects, accompaniment, collaboration, and other forms of creative musicianship when the path calls for it.
